Q: What style of martial art do you teach?
A: We teach Shorin Ryu karate. Shorin Ryu is a 400 year old style that finds it's roots in Shuri city on the island of Okinawa. There are many different schools of Shorin Ryu. All of these schools originated in Shuri city.
The name "Shorin Ryu" means "Pine Forest Method". This translation refers to both the pine forests on Okinawa, as well as the original Chinese word "Shaolin".
Shorin Ryu is a branch of the White Crane system. Practitioners of the highest Black Belt ranks are taught the secrets of the White Crane, or the Hakutsuru Kata.

Q: Where are you located?
A: Our address is: 5736 Limaburg Rd. Burlington, KY 41005 (859) 760-8229 Call for directions.

Q: What age groups do you teach?
A: We have classes for children as young as 4. Our children's classes are divided by age and rank.
All of our adults train together to give the lower rank students' the benefit of the upper ranks' experience.

Q: Do you have an after school martial arts program?
A: We have an after school program that services Boone and Kenton counties. For those students whose school buses do not service our area we do provide transportation.
A typical day for our after school kids starts with snack time and homework time, then child safety classes that range from "stranger danger" to "fire safety". We wrap up their day with their martial arts class.

Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We offer daytime children's classes for home school kids Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am, and adult's classes for 2nd and 3rd shift workers on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12noon.
Our evening schedule is as follows: Little Dragons (4-6 yr. olds) 5-6pm Beginner Kids 6-7pm Advanced Kids 7-8pm Adults 8-9pm
Evening classes are offered Monday through Thursday. There is a "swing" class on fridays for children and one for adults with an open curriculum.

Q: Do I have to be in good shape to start training?
A: "Good" is a relative term for most people. One of the greatest benefits you will receive from your martial arts training is a stronger and more fit body. Because your training will allow you to excel at your own rate, your "begining condition" is unimportant. It will only be a factor if you have serious medial conditions.

Q: How long will it take me to earn a black belt?
A: There is never an easy answer to this question. How long it will take you depends on how often you train, how hard you train, and how much you practice outside of class. For a student who attends class twice a week on a regular basis, puts out 100% effort and practices at home, it is possible for him/her to attain black belt level within 5 years.
